Just lazy Harry and anyway Dek might like a usable picture instead of the mobile phone kiddy things of today.
F86 Sabre was no real match for the Mig 15 either Harry.
Not strong enough for carrier use so limited in operational range..
Lovely looking kite though. One of my favorites.
Not a lot of good until they fitted the all flying tail plane either.
The Sabre pilots did a good job under difficult conditions though.
Sea Fury had a much better range on drop tanks and could loiter far longer with a fighter bomber load of a useful size.
Turn inside an F86 any day don't know about the Mig15, there is a Mig 15 at Duxford but I doubt it will fly again.
Korea was a melting pot of technology but still they did not learn.
Shortly after they brought out jet fighters with nothing but missiles, took them ages to back track that one.

Usable?
Keith, what are you on?
Whilst the subject matter is interesting the pictures themselves are total poo. They may be big, but that serves only to emphasise what awful quality they are.
You couldn't use them for anything other than illustrating a lecture of 'images that are too poor quality to use'
Harry
Harry, still

I've enjoyed the length of this thread and it's many diversions. I Love old photos . In the Pathe archive I have some real favourites such as the double decker flights with mail being sent on ahead by a smaller plane. The Canberra record breaking flights are a must see. In clipped voice say " After an 8 hour flight these boys are dying for a cup of tea"

I have family connections with the DH Comet that did that record flight Christopher.
An Uncle of mine worked all his life at Hatfield including the Mosquito design studio and ended up on the later Comet after the war. As a young man he worked on the ground crew of that twin engined red mean machine. I believe there was also a black one?
The pick a back flying boats were a super concept and the idea was later used by Heinkel with their Mistel fighter bomber combination. That was successful operationally and took out many Allied bridges and ships. Not much written about it of course.

Sorry I was wrong.
It was not a Heinkel bomber in the Mistel combination, it was a Junkers 88, flown from a Fock Wulf 190A6 mounted on the top.
Later versions used other available bombers including the HE 188 jet bomber.
I do not know if they ever used a Heinkel 111.

Back a stage Keith , I was mentioning the Canberra not the Comet. as a fine plane. I flew on the Comet many times to Libya and back not knowing the problems there were . It was still a great british invention. One time from the Uk to Rome Mother was charmed by that 60s star with the blond mane who signed her magazine.
Many of us boomers flew all over the world with a system of 'universal aunts'
