Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.
Is it not typical Keith,of this shower of dung to do anything to direct attention away from the real dangers that are just around the corner to go and play with a toy game.I suppose in a way when a government is in trouble they like to play war games, now its death by drowning.John

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.
Another suspected arson attack on a Broads cruiser.Last night a boat was set on fire in Great Yarmouth and it eventually sank to the bottom of the Bure.It was very fortunate that no one was on board at the time.Attacks on moored up boats are now getting common on the Broads.I thought that the B.A.manned the Great Yarmouth moorings 24hrs a day.John

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.

Ah that's nasty. Used to be untying cruisers, which was almost as dangerous. Even if there is no one on board there is a danger to other cruisers and it makes a horrible mess as at Horsey last year.

That's Yarmouth these days for you I'm afraid. It has got to the point where it is embarrassing to say where we live and we tend just to say  the village name and Norfolk.

I read the story in the Yarmouth Mercury Gardener so it may have been Sunday night. What a terrifying experience if you were on board. In the dark and if it was low water, trying to get out onto the quayside.Someone could have been on a murder charge.John

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.

There is bound to be an increase in serious crime when there is little if any checks on foreign immigrants coming to Yarmouth.

I wonder how many from Eastern Europe where involved with ethnic cleansing.

Such people are hardly controllable by police who are to scared to deal with travellers.

Before any lick ar-- MC liberal pops up to brown nose the b-------, I have not said this incident was carried out by any foreigners.

I would like some figures on how many major crimes where the result of foreign immigration.

I bet such statistics are well hidden from the public.

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.

I would lay money that this is something done by stupid boys between the age of 14 and 21. They might not be local but I bet they are Brits. Stupid boys who never got a slap at infant school and never learned to respect property and people and have a warped sort of attitude that because someone has something nice they deserve being assaulted , directly or indirectly.

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.

They are joking are they not gardener?

A beautifully put together document, that explains the activity of, putting in a few sticks, building up a few tiny banks and employing some cheap labour to use chain saws and some antiquated old river machinery.

So insignificant that few people have even seen them at work!!?

Hardly going to prevent any REAL flooding is it.

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.
We did actually see them at work last October Keith. All 3 of them. They had certainly covered a large area of the banks but I could not see any difference in height of the new pilings to the old. What work was going on behind the mud banks is anyones guess.I have e-mailed that web site Gardener and asked if I could see the proposed plans for Acle.Of course we must realise all of these plans were available with the consultation document which you all had and studied.[Only joking Gardener] I doubt if hardly anyone was aware of the plans let alone study them.John

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.
I had to smile when I read Stephen Pullingers story in the text only news re two families from Manchester who are on holiday on a Broads cruiser.Stephen's graphic picture of a family, stranded on board their cruiser because of the rain,no dry clothes because they had only brought summer wear with them and the scented candles to take away the smell of damp clothes and they had no wellies to walk on the sodden quayside at Wroxham. This is boating Stephen.Like boy scouts you should "BE Prepared" Of course the two families have my sympathy if they were unprepared for the rain but tell me,where in this country do you go and not take clothing suitable for inclement weather let alone a boating holiday.Wellies, waterproof clothing and a torch are as important as the eggs and bacon.John

Re: R.S.P.B.Broads report.

Well I haven't been down to Thurne or Upton since they had been working there because I am purely an on foot traveller around the broads so didn't fancy getting bogged down in the mud before the grass had a chance to regrow. I am sure one of the sailing fraternity here will be able to tell you how successful the works appear. I think they  may also have been working somewhere down in the Runham Swims vicinity if the roads signs are anything to go by. My concern is for their proposals for the area around Martham Broad which could be intrusive and I can't quite see the need.

There is a very large compound for dredging and bank construction plant currently at Acle.
