DVD recorders
Does anyone know of a source for DVD recorder reviews which list features of the recorders please? I am in the market for a recorder with the following features:
HDD
Multi region
Freeview
Make not that important and a budget up to £1,000

Re: DVD recorders
A good place to ask this sort of question is the DigitalSpy forum at http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/index.php?
I tried to find a similar device but couldnt find one which matched my needs - I wanted twin Freeview tuners with HDD, DVD player/recorder and an Ethernet connection.
I ended up with a Topfield 5800 twin-tuner Freeview unit with a 160Gb hard disk (88 hours recording capacity), which I bought from Hughes in Norwich for £249.99. It allows you to watch and/or record two channels at once, record two channels and play back another recording, or play back something which is currently being recorded
If you have a PC you can connect it up and save recorded programs to your PC for later DVD burning and can even add extra program code to change the way it work - these are available from the very strong user community at http://www.toppy.org.uk/. Highly recommended if it suits your needs.
For DVD playing I have a Yamada 6700 which plays everything I've put in it and cost me about £60 last year

Re: DVD recorders
Thanks njw. I found that the current offerings from Panasonic and Sony were vastly overpriced if you want freeview and HDD (around the £500 mark). One with freeview but without HDD can be had for £150, similar price for one with HDD but no freeview.
So I popped into Hughes near Castle Mall to see what was on offer. Spoke to a very helpful guy and, at his suggestion, picked up a second user twin freeview Humax with 40GB HDD for £25. Got it home and popped a 250GB HDD in (£89 from ebuyer) and connected it to a Toshiba DVD recorder (£69 from Richersounds). So for less than £200 including good SCART leads I have what I wanted, about 130 hours of recording time with digital, albeit in two boxes instead of one.
