Roger Freeman the author of so many books and historian of the 8th USAAF has passed away peacefully here in England. he was 77, and had been fighting the long bout of the big C
. such knowledge that was shared with so many such a inspiration .
....................May he rest in peace...............

There are many good reasons for drinking,
One has just entered my head,
If a man doesn't drink when he's living,
How the hell can he drink when he's dead? .

A truly remarkable man and evocative speaker. I had the pleasure of taking a tour of WW2 bomber bases with Mr. Freeman as the tour guide. He shared his childhood experiences as a Base kid, hanging about the aircraft and meeting the airmen. He recalled crashes and significant events that brought life to this horrible history. Mr. Freeman's books were a thorough compendium and documentation of all related to this unparallelled slice of history. He will be missed, but his contribution, like those of his subject, will long endure.
