SUSTINS Family

I am researching my partner's ancestry in Suffolk. On the 1851 census I have found Sophia Sustins as head of the household while her husband George is at sea. George and Sophia arrived in New Zealand in 1855. He was captain of the Southern Cross bringing Bishop Selwyn to N Z. I have found other SUSTINS branches all over Suffolk and we would love to hear from anyone who is related to George & Sophia(nee DAVY). There are a lot of descendants in New Zealand so I can supply plenty of contacts and info.

Colleen,

My family line is from Charles Sustins baptised 18 August 1810 who married Elizabeth Burdon. They had (at least) two daughters Elizabeth and Ellen. Elizabeth Sustins married William Mallett October 1858 and their son Charles Sustins Mallett, born 1855 Kessingland, Suffolk emigrated to Sydney NSW in the late 1890s. He was my great-grandfather. Colleen,  My grandmother, May McCully, was daughter of Mary Sophia White(nee Sustins), who was the youngest daughter of captain Sustins. I can remember as a child leafing through the very large hand written log book from the Southern Cross in which Captain Sustins sailed. I believe that this is now in the possession of my uncle.I have some records of obituaries etc. that my grandmother had collected, mainly for her siblings and including one for her mother (died 1940). There are also other hand written items including an 1876 letter of reference to the Holbeck workhouse, but some of the contents are unclear.
I would like to hear if you have any other information.
