If as you say Nevermind the B.A. does have elected members, how could we as members of the public attain a record of the votes cast and who stood for election? John

Mine was not a eulogy in praise of quangos.
I don't like them.
I was merely pointing out that there are many recorded instances where they work well as administrative instruments.
This isn't one of them - but that's mainly because of the conflicting agendas involved - and of course as so often - it's down to personalities.
I think it was Socrates who described democracy as a dirty Greek word (or perhaps it was Groucho Marx?). Whoever - they had a point . Nevermind at least should have understood my references to single issue politicians, as he's by way of being one of them.
Well, double issue I suppose, if you can square being green with promoting cannabis smoking.
Funny, but I always thought potheads had a rather high carbon footprint?

dearest Scaramouche, I am an ecological minded chap who can see the vast benefits of Hemp, it has left the prohibitionist approach behind. Criminalising our future taxpayers and jailing ill people for using it medically, whilst nodding like a donkey, is just not the done thing anymore, especially not when one wants to revive public finances.
A vast prison building programme ala USof A, were the jailing of teenager under the age of 18 has increased by 50 % during the Bush regime, for nothing but dope, is not something we can afford, nor can we afford Quango's, they are expensive.
So Westminster, always making a point of being the oldest democracy in the wolrd, a touch of grandeur here, because Athens was democratised long before Britain, really choose it because it was a dirty way to go about, what a revelation, call the newsdesk, hurray he's got it.... it really makes sense when you look at politics today.
I am not a politician anymore dearest Scaramouche, that is to say, at present, so feel free to slay somebody else, you sad scribe.
tell us, whence your arguments fail, do you always try and get a personal dig in and do you do this very often in your carrer? nevermind

Oh dear Nevermind - you really are a one-man justification for the manner in which we esteem the teutonic sense of humour.
I think your Green credentials are impeccable, and always have done.
As for support for cannabis smoking?
If they really must do it, I'd prefer if they all surrendered their driving licences.

Why are you making a big thing of it, Scaramouche, Keith is right, this thread is about something else and my position on all drugs is public record since 1999, thats not news, but that the quango crats will get away with it, because not enough emphasis/ limelight is given to the secretive way these mainly OBN chappies use the BA to fetter their own aspirations and interests, will disappear in the fog. nevermind

Hi John,
All is well with me thanks. I'm still moored up on the North side of Thorpe Island, with a ship's cat, Nelson also along for the ride!
There has been a deafening silence fom the BA over our existence here. Hopefully this is a good thing.
Any news, and I'll post it here for sure,
...it's so lovely down here in the sun incidentally, watching one of the ducks escorting her bustling brood around!
It's a wibbly wobbly world

What I have found with the people from these "agencies or bodies" is that they feel they are beyond questioning.
The ones I have come into contact with are officals from the Council who can command their workforce without comeback and can also have an input into peoples careers, yet cannot understand that they do not have that authority when dealing with the general public.
They get affronted and clam up even when they cannot deny the truth, so say nothing.
One wonders why these people do it, as it is usually not their money they are spending but revenue from the public purse for the good of the public.

OK so who can remind us exactly what this RSPB Broads report is about and who is doing what to the Broads?
We do not want the issue to slide away to the benefit of those who think they are the chosen ones do we.
