With reference to the new law aimed at protecting consumers against rogue traders, now fortune-tellers, astrologers and mediums are required to say their services are for "entertainment only". Should this not be extended to all superstitions like organised religions who also cannot 'prove' the validity of their services? As a confirmrd non-believer in anything spiritual (ghosts, the afterlife, god etc) I applaud the new protection for those vulnerable people who feel the need to believe in this tripe.

Re: APPARITIONS V SCIENCE

Even though im a believer in spirit existence, im gonna agree with you on the point that this kind of law is needed to protect people from unscrupulous individuals who try to con people out of their money through means of emotional blackmail and misleading sales tactics. I must say applying the label " for entertaiment purposes only" to individuals who truely believe is a bit unfair and is not needed as we all have a choice of what we choose to believe in and as you say if this is to be applied to this kind of thing then orgainsed religion should be included also.

Thankyou for bringing this to our attention, it certainly promotes much thought and consideration.

I am an extremely busy full time professional working Medium...

My job description in its simplest terms would be ‘talking to the deceased’

I will NOT advertise my services as for "entertainment only", as this would deliberately mislead the public and surly as such this in it’s self would contravene the law, unless I’ve read it wrong!

If the powers that be want to prevent unscrupulous traders for taking advantage of vulnerable people than I am for it 100%, however my chosen profession is also an integral part of my religion and as such I will continue to practice it... as I will my healing!

My ‘gift’ as some may call it, comes from GOD

And in her I trust!!!!

I am in an aggrieved state here, as most honest and trustworthy traders should be... whatever their trade.

Sadly it seems most are overwhelmed by apathy.

Re: APPARITIONS V SCIENCE

Hi Jay

Thats quite an explossive first post to the forum. Well at least I have not seen you on the forum before.

I will agree with you to a point that there is many fake mediums out there. These fake mediums have nothing more of an interest in the spirit world than feathering their own nests. They have no belief in spirit.

So I agree that these people should be put out of buisness. As these are the con artists that give true mediums a bad name.

On the other hand I have witnessed  true mediums in action & I was shocked by what I have got from them. Certainly things that they should have had no knowlege of, other than being in contact with spirit.

So in my mind there is no doubt about it, that there is a spirit world & no doubt about it that there are mediums out there that can contact the dear departed.

I know the signs of a cold reading & of what to look out for. Some of the readings that I have had from mediums, goes way beyond a cold reading.

And now on to the con artist. Lets hope that on day that they get the shock of their lives, when a real spirit contact them for real.

As in the film Ghost. Giggle Poor little Whoopie. LOL

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: APPARITIONS V SCIENCE

Hi Jaytee,

I acknowldege your point regarding the above law - however, I don't fully agree with the way in which it is being implemented and how it is defined or interpreted - rather woolly, vague and ambiguos.

I personally do not describe my faith as superstition and certainly do not view it as tripe and I don't feel vulnerable. There are those who hold similar views to yourself concerning religions and the existence of an after life etc and many using stronger words than yourself to describe your views have after a fashion been persuaded otherwise through personal experience.  Take a look at what science has to offer and perhaps you'll begin to appreciate that nothing in life is so black and white.

Thanks

Sans

Re: APPARITIONS V SCIENCE
You probably haven't seen any of my posts because I usually frequent the news forum (not so much recently because it has mostly degenerated into personal insults and racist arguments). As I said earlier I do not believe in any of this stuff relating to spirits, afterlife, supreme beings, reincarnation etc, so I rarely look in this one.
I'll admit, I used the story as bait....

Hi Jaytee

i thought i knew your name from somewhere, i was on the news forum a couple of weeks ago, and yes i got a complete blasting, i was only asking about peoples views on home tutoring, having a daughter who is finding school difficult, i am looking at other ways of education just exploring the possibilities, boy did i get it, wont bother asking for a view anymore, as it made me feel quite sad even some bloke asking if i was a single mum TUT TUT TUT. what if i am what darn difference does it make, single mums do a great job,

on that note hang around we may convert your beliefs.

Re: APPARITIONS V SCIENCE

Hi again Jay

Strange that you said that you were baiting us. Well I must amit that I have seen baiting on forums in a more nasty ways than what you did.

So I aplaud you for that.

I guess that you must have been surprised by all of us agreeing about fake mediums.

But here is my meet up with a true medium

Heres one for you to ponder.

A few years back I started going to a Spirual church. I was interested in what I might find out.

I saw the mediums going to others & after two visits I thought that this was rubish. But I thought that I would go just one more time.

On the third time of going a very petete blond woman medium asked. Theres some one who knows of a Rachel in the Living world. I put my hand up as I have a friend by the name of Rachel.

No one else put their hands up. So I was the only one who Knew of a Rachel.

The medium then said. 'I think that I have your Nan here.'

She then said. 'You had a very nasty operation last year on your stomach.'

I had to agree with her. I had an abcess on my apendix, which was pure agony at the time. The Drs didnt know what was wrong with me so they opened me up, down the middle of my tummy. They removed my apendix. That was Christmas Eve when I had the operation.

She then said. 'Your Nan was there at the time, looking over you while you had your operation.'

She then said. 'You Nan is saying that you have removed your ear ring.'

WOW. That was a huge hit. I had removed the ear ring that my Nan had bought me 5 years ago. The ear ring was of a speedway rider on a bike. I was no longer going to speedway & I had removed it. All though I still have an interest in Speedway on TV.

So how do you explain these two incidents. She nore anyone at the spiritual church had no knowledge of these events.

There is hardly a mark where my ear ring used to be. Certanly it would not have been visible to her, across the room where she stood.

Thats just two of many other messagers from spirit.

Best wishes

Eddie
