Hi Jems
The lights in the sky. What colour were they? How bright were they? How did they move in the sky? Up & down, side to side,
I'm giving no detales yet as I have heard of these lights by 6 diferent people. I want to know if these are the same light.
Did you go to the chuch by the picnik site? If so I will agree, it has a very strange feeling to it. Be it a nice feeling.
Well it does during the day time, never been there at night.
The Santon Downham picnic aria can at times feel strange. This was the site of a Medieval village. Long since lost.
Best wishes
Eddie

Hi Jenny
TUT. Sorry that no one let into the jewelers/magic shop.
It has an amazing feeling to it inside. Yes I have also felt it from outside too.
Maybe next time. Hey.
Best wishes

hi Eddie, these lights were a yellowy orange colour, and there weren't moving in any sense of direction at all they would jolt upwards one second, next moving diagonally downwards and so on. i don't know what they were, but we watched them for a good hour and they never actually got any closer to us.
i have been in the church, but only in the day time, i think the strange feelings come from the fact that it is so quiet there so when you here noises your mind convinces itself it must be something from beyond. we went to the church to see if we could see the brick of where the sand went up to, but we couldn't find it on this church so tried the bigger one round the corner instead. again we couldn't find it so we are thinking of going back sometime when we can all ger time together.
are there any other places in that area you would recommend?

Hi Jems
The colour of the lights were as I expected you to say.
I nust admit that I am at a loss with these lights. Quite a few people have told me of these lights but as yet I have not seen them. CURSES!!!!!!!!!!
I have been told that some have been see by themselves, others in twos, the last report that I heard of (before yours) said that there was a whole load of them.
How many exactly were there. That you can remember seeing? Did they move away from you or did they just disapear?
One thing that I will say is that I once saw a light in the sky that I could not explain, from Brandon.
This light was 'pure white' but it moved up & down & side to side like you saw. But it had a lime green mist trail traveling behind it.
As it moved up the mist trail would follow it & then it would fall again with the mist trail following it.
I watched it dancing in the sky for about 5 mins, befor it just darted skywards & disapeared.
That was about 10 years ago & Ive never seen anything like it again.
I have spoken to many air force service men about this & they said that they have never heard of anything like it. I one went to see Nick Pope (Well know ufologist) I told him of it & he said. 'Its not one of ours.
I have been doing astronomy for many years & I know the typical signs to look for, as to identifying normal explanatary UFOs. The Iternatioal Space Station (ISS) space Satalites, Planet Venus is a good one, in patchy clould. Although Venus looks near enough stationary, with patchy clould though, it apears to move quite quickley, as do other stars.
As to ghost hunting in the Thetford area.
Have you been to the Thetford tourist information office? They have a leaflet of the Thetford Ghost trail. Its very good.
Here is a copy of the Ghost walk that they have put on the net but you will need a darn good magnifying glass to read it.

wow, to see a bunch of them would have been amazing. unfortunately we only saw the one light on its own that night. the thing that confused us and made us think it wasn't a plane of any sort was the fact it never seemed to get closer or further away the whole time we were watching it.
i haven't seen anything like that since either but my friends and i are looking forward to getting into exploring again now that we have finished coursework for a few months. we live in the watton area so again an area of high interest, merton which is near us has got many stories especially.
thanks for the link i will show it to my friends

Hi All,
Not about Thetford, but on the strange lights in the sky bit...
A few years ago I went out into our front garden (Reepham, Norfolk) with our dog, quite late at night. Suddenly a helicopter appeared above us - I say suddenly because it seemed as it one moment it wasn't there, and then the next moment it was. There was no sound of it flying in or anything like that. This helicopter had a large orange light on the side. If flew over the garden and house and then started to fly off into the distance. What happened next was the strangest part - I could clearly see the orange light in the 'near distance' - there were no trees or houses between my line of sight and the 'copter, and very little cloud cover. It was still flying quite low. Then it seemed like it 'jumped about' in the sky - moving up and down, side to side in an irregular movement - very quickly. I don't know much about helicopters - but I'm pretty sure they can't move like that! It also wasn't the beam of the orange light being moved about as far as I could see as it was the actual source of the light, in the sky, that was jumping about. Then it just went out! Our dog's reaction was also quite strange. He normally loved to bark at anything with a loud engine - planes, helicopters, motorbikes, lawn-mowers etc, but he didn't make a peep, and even stranger was how he went indoors... we have a step up to our front door, and this was quite close to the end of his life - he wasn't normally able to get up the step by himself without a little push to get his rear going - as his back legs were very stiff and weak, poor boy. This time though he darted indoors faster than I had seen him move for a long time, with no help to get up the step, and wouldn't come back out again!
Have no idea of an explanation - different possibilities have been suggested, but I just don't know. I have never seen anything like it before or since.

Hi Pat
That sounds interesting. Helecopters. Black Helecopters. Hmmmmmmm.
I very much doubt though that the helecopter idea covers these strange orange lights though. From the reports that I have heard, these strange lights are totally silent. Not a sound to be heard from them. I have never heard of a helecopter that can make no noise before.
So I would guess that what you saw, was not a helecopter at all. It was something else. What else, thats the interesting part.
Not evern the most up to date brand new military planes, helecopters, makes no noise. All of them have a sound of some sort.
I should know. I live on the flight path, to & from RAF Lakenheath. Noisy Sods. Giggle
Best wishes

Ah Ha
I have just been to the Thetford priory. While there I picked up on the name Sylvia. I thought that this was a strange name to pick up at a priory.
I have just put the name into Google & this is what it come up with.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Silvia
Saint Sylvia hey. Well that was a shocker. I'm more than just a bit surprised.
Best wishes

Hi Jenny nothing about the Rushfords yet, but there are links by the looks of things. Not enough as yet for me to say a direct hit.
However. I may have got a photo of a spirit on camera from the priory. I dont know yet as it may be a wall feature that looks like a person standing in front of it, I will have to see about it next week sometime.
Yes as usual, ever the sceptic until I have full prove. Giggle
Best wishes
