Re: thetford

If you are still reading N. I have a little bit of interesting news about William Corder. Murder of the Red Barn.

It seems as if relitives of Corder have succeeded in getting his skeleton from the museums.

They have had it cremated. An amazing thing realy, as at the time of corder cremation would have been one of the most feared thing that could have happened to the human body after death.

they believed that the body should have been whole & complete to make it to heaven. This is why the condemed to death prisoners were more afraid of their bodies after hanging, being taken to the amatomists for disection.

I was told about Corders skeleton being cremated at the Norwich Castle museum by the archaeologists showing a display of the history of human skin.

I was told that the relitives are now after the book bound in his skin & his scalp.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Hi All

Heres a little bit of interesting news from Thetford.

I was told by a friend that he went to a curio shop in Thetford (Now the Magic shop) & he heard running & a young girlgiggling on the stairs behind a door.

He said to the shop keeper. 'Sounds like she's having fun on the stairs.'

The shop keeper looked suprised & said. 'Can you hear her?'

To which my friend said that yes he could.

The shop keeper then smiled & beckoned my friend to the door. When he opened the door, there was no stairs.

He then told my friend that it was the ghost of a little girl that he had seen on many diferent acassions.

I was talking to the new owner about this case & he said that the shop is haunted by a woman, a child, a cat & a very negitive spirit that lived upstairs.

The stairs of cause have now been repaired.

The magic shop is for praticing stage magicans only (Public not alould in) . But you can go into their other shop next door. Its a jewlers shop that conects on to the magic shop.

The magic shop is not always open. You can tell when it is as it has a red neon sign in the window saying Open

However I did say that I was interested in stage magic & he let me in to have a brouse around the shop.

I'm glad that he did as I picked up two pairs of victorian replica handcuffs (Early & late Victorian) for £30.00. Usualy just one pair is valued at about £50.00.

So I was quite chuft with the deal.

Will tell more later about my Halloween Fancy dress night. & me as dressed as a Victorian Prison Warden.

I'm off now  to watch the footie.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Well as Ive said. I love amature dramatics.

When I played Zoltan Karpathy in My Fair Lady. The wardrobe made me a Victorian style suite for the part.

I loved it & I bought it after the show.

Anyway to the Brandon Halloween Spooktacula & me as the Victorian Prison gard.

I wore the Victorian suite (Its all black). Aso black top hat, from joke shop. White shirt & a black bow tie. I bought some long Victorian keys, for the keys to the prison cells. I wore a pair of cheap reproduction Victorian glasses that I had also bought from a joke shop & of cause the two pairs of Victorian replica handcuffs.

When I walked on to the market place where the Halloween party was being held, I thought to myself, that this was a huge mistake. A young teenage girl shyed away from me, saying. 'Oh I dont like that. Its horrible.'

So maybe I had gone a little too far in my costume, I thought.

However those thoughts soon changed, when I won best dressed person in my age group. Ah Ha, it had all been woth while after all.

So thats the story of my Halloween party night.......... It was a blast.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Hi Eddie,

Really enjoyed reading this post and the other one about the magic shop.

Don't suppose you know anymore detail about the book itself.  Gruesome thought hey - I wonder what they did with the rest of the skin???

I guess the magic shop will now have an influx of visitors.

Thanks

Sans

Re: thetford

Hi Sans

These are the exibits that are on show at the Moyes Hall museum Bury St Edmunds.

http://www.stedmundsbury.gov.uk/sebc/visit/exhibits.cfm

Moyes Hall can be found in the Bury St Edmunds market square, opposite to Burger king.

I would guess that the rest of he skin would have been disposed of, once the amatomists had finnished with their experiments.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Hi Jenny

Oh why ever not. Giggle

This is the website to the magic shop in Thetford.

http://www.aquarius-magic.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=15483b37e408d7a/shopdata/index.shopscript

You might notice just how old & spooky it looks.

The shop is just off one of the roads in front of the market place mini roundabout. If you are on the right road you will be able to see Blockbusters video shop on that road. This road leads to the castle mound.

I see be the weather reports, that it should be sunny for Thursday

I hope that you are well, I read that you couldnt drive at the moment.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Hi Jenny

You may not be able to get into the magic shop but the jeweler shop is in the same house.

It will be interesting to see what you feel from the place. I found the sensations about the place quite strong.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

hi everyone!

first of all apologies if i do something wrong, i have only just joined the forum! and secondly sorry if i repeat something that has already been discussed here as i have not read everything.

with regards to Thetford, my friends and i have always found it has an eery feeling in the evenings/ after dark. Although it is not directly in Thetford, Santon Downham is also a gd one for eery feelings. My friends took me there in the dark last summer, and it is just the creepiest place i have ever been. if they try to go there anymore i refuse to get out of the car I was that terrified!

one if the things that we found eery was strange lights in the sky. they weren't moving in any general direction, just joliting all different ways. Has anybody else seen anything like this there?
