Re: Shoreline Management - a threat to the Broads?

Here is an idea Bob.

Why don't you wealthy Americans with connections to Norfolk, start raising funds over there to help people who may lose everything they have here in Norfolk?

Good idea Keith

Perhaps the money that used to go to the IRA could be channelled this way

After all, we have given them Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Ricky Gervaise

What more could they want?

Apologies to our American friends.

Sorry Keith, we're still contributing to the flood victims in our area and down in the southern U.S.   The Southern Tier of New York, where we live, is one of the many flood prone areas in the U.S.

Fair enough Bob, I know you also labor under the corrupt.

We should stick together on these issues.

Jill, Keiths departure from reality doesn't bother me a bit.    I know from reading the EDP every day whats happening in your area.  From what i've read lately, there is no real flood defense plan except the usual cleanup problems after a flood happens.  Even without the money spent in Iraq, I doubt that amount would ever be spent on a flood plan like the Dutch have.   I feel sorry for the people living in the low lying areas of Norfolk because the sea just keeps getting nastier.

Is Britain looking for handouts again? ;-)

What a legacy Tony Blair and New Labour have left us. Still, he says he has found faith, so I suppose that's something to be thankful for, since no one has faith in him anynore.

You can tell with the postings on here and the R.S.P.B.Report postings that there are a few of the selfish ones who say it won't affect them, but they should open their eyes and look a bit furthur into the future. It doesn't affect me as a householder,I live in the Midlands but it does affect me when I think of Norfolk as my second home.I should think over the last 48yrs I have been coming down to Norfolk, whether it be for boating or caravanning at Waxham we have spent in excess of £50.000 pounds in boat hire fees and caravan fees.I am just one person, how much money will Broadland miss out on if there are no tourists and please don't tell me you will get it from the twitchers.John.

Angry [:@] Re: Shoreline Management - a threat to the Broads?

I'm hoping that we can drum up enough support to prevent this catastrophic mistake. Quite apart from the issue of the destruction of The Broads, churches and other medieval buildings of historic significance, together with many acres of farm land, my family has a bungalow right on the dunes at Eccles so we stand to lose it all. We don't live there but the area is a big part of our life. The piece of land has been in my husband's family for over 60 years. He demolished the old wooden bungalow and designed and built a new one which has been enjoyed by family and friends for a long time. The family is Norwich born and bred and our daughter is at UEA.

What really gets my goat is reading the article in yesterday's Telegraph which appears to present this option as a fact!  Angry [:@]

http://www.the-norfolk-broads.co.uk/ .

It is by no means fact, The above site has already started a petition to downing street if anyone wishes to sign it. I think it has something to do with the fishing on the norfolk broads being effected so it proves many people other than us very unfortunate people who live in " the area" do care.

If it is the same petition Swampie,Jamie presented his petition some time ago and the Broads Bill was opposed in its present format. This Bill will be debated in Parliament at a later date.It now requires a seperate petition re Flood Defences.John
