Off to Paris in the morning, I have waited 33 years to be able to walk down the hill to St Pancras and catch the train . 33 years of miserable Ken, in his first incarnation after the overnight coup at County Hall, then for the last 8 crowing years at Tower Bridge. I am not hapless Harry, I am happy Harry! Phew.

Ah. You are saying that his friend and protege Lee Jasper didn't have to 'pursue new interests' at the very last moment?
Sorry, I must have missed that.

Harry, the history of the LDA's black community grants is certainly not a happy one, and at best they almost certainly present very poor value for public money. But amid all the claim and counterclaim, my reading is that it is far more a case of money wasted, than money corruptly acquired to line personal pockets.
Ah, but I suppose we've yet to hear all ?

"effective administrator", " poor value for public money", "money wasted". In your own words describe the recent Mayor's administration. How could Boris do worse?

It appeared to me that the person most surprised to be elected was the dear old buffoon himself.
His performance on the Question Time 'face the people' show was that bad that one member of the audience asked him if he had any policies or plans in place if he was chosen to take over.
He could not answer. And when he was actually elected he stood there like a rabbit caught in the headlights.
He will need careful and concentrated guidance and control to make a job of this.
I might look darf but I ain't stuput!

I see Boris has attracted the wrong sort of attention while cycling to work, by ignoring red lights and cycling on pavements, not a good advert for a keen cyclist with a stated aim of promoting cycling in the capital. At least he's not like 'Jags' Prescott - he has a car available but chooses not to contribute to the London rush hour gridlock.
Not the first time he's been spotted cycling dangerously - he has been spotted on his mobile a few times, and has collided with pedestrians.

Old Boris has got himself a bit of a poisoned chalice really what with the Olympics coming up and the possiblity of actually having to do something about lawlessness in London if there is a Conservative government after the next election( no Labour to blame then-although Labour supporters have been blaming the Tories for all our ills for the last 10 years) My youngest thinks he is amazing so his appeal extends to those with Goth tendencies...
Ken Livingstone was a bit career local gov wasn't he, with some dodgy opinions and personal life and like Brown his successes have probably been all down economic prosperity up until now. At least Boris is a bit interesting. Not the best qualification but I hope he confounds all his critics.

At the top of the thread I mentioned Boris' friendliness As a road user to a pavement user he managed to wave with one hand, nod with the head, smile, talk on the phone with the other, cycle, avoid speed humps whilst all I managed was to get the green one in the bin. . And I have already admitted to jaywalking ,30 years ago, in front of a young cyclist. It really hurt( both of us) Christopher
