Re: NU > AVIVA and negative comments
I agree that Ian Gibson's comments were too negative.  I think some local officials, including Ian Gibson and the Lord Mayor, are worrying unnecessarily. Outside the UK, the company has been known as Aviva for the last 5 years or so. It's only the UK which retained the Norwich Union name.
For sentimental reasons, I do think it's a shame that they got rid of the NU name, and if it was up to me I would've kept it, although I also sympathise with the argument that it is better that the company has the same name all over the world.

However, I don't think the name change means the company will leave Norwich. For one thing, where could they relocate the head office to? Also, they've spent a lot of money (hundreds of millions of pounds?) refurbishing the Norwich offices, building a new IT data centre and training the thousands of Norwich-based staff, so it would be a silly idea to leave the city.

Re: NU > AVIVA and negative comments

I think you are in for a surprise Sparkle.

My guess is, they will wait until the AVIVA name effectively covers up the sentimental connections of the old one.

Then head office will move to India.

Mark my words.

Dream on
