Re: thetford

I'm glad that you had a good time Jenny. If maybe a little wet weather wise.

Thetford is a wonderful place & do to its history it boasts many ghosts. (Ah Ha. I'm a poet & I dont knowit.)

Nice to hear that your friends house has a resident ghost.

Look forward to meeting up again.

The church is at the picnic area in Santon Downham. It is one of the smallest churches in Britain, if not the smallest.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford

Ah Ha

The owner of the anchor pub has now plans to save it. Do to the fact that it was shown on one of the Dads Army shows.

A new Dads Army museum is soon to open in Thetford & the owner hopes to cash in on people coming to Thetford to visit the museum.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: thetford
Thetford could do  with the extra income. The whole town needs sprucing up! It's a shame,as there are some beautiful ancient buildings there & a lovely riverside location .I heard they are going to have a statue dedicated to Dad's Army too?
I have done a vigil in The Bell Hotel...It is a wonderfully active place, but spoilt by the manager. He means well, but he has turned that place into a bit of a sideshow. You will know what I mean if you have been there?I suppose we all have to make money where we can,but you can take things a teeny bit too far.

Re: thetford

Hi Aurora

Are we talking about their resident monk? As being the tour guide.

I met him on the Bell ghost tour. He's a great guy but I feel that it would have been better if he had dressed in civies.

On the day of the ghost tour we were not alowed into the most haunted room.

The most haunted room is the bridel suite.

That spirit has class.  Giggle

Best wishes

Re: thetford

Hello

The author whom you are looking for is Robert Thurston Hopkins, one time pupil at Thetford Grammar School who then as a child had the dreams concerning Thetford Warren Lodge?

A chapter appears in the publication "The mummy of Birchen Bower and Other True Ghosts" by Harry Ludham (W. Foulsham & Co. Ltd London 1966).

Thurston later wrote his book about "hauntings" from an area all around Thetford which includes the Bury St Edmunds area.

Thurston also had links with Bury St Edmunds prision, governors house Gyves House, on the Sudbury Road and knew about incidents that occured concerning the "Red Barn murderer William Corder".

Reference to the above referenced book under "William Corder's Skull".

Regarding the cottages on Minstergate in Thetford I have "as far as I know it" I have no knowledge of any apparent activity?

Happy hunting

Re: thetford

Hi Jenny

No I dont think that they do the ghost walks anymore. However they do have a leaflet at the Tourest information about the where abouts of Haunted locatios.

Hi N

I'm trying to find out more info on the Bridewell museum Norwich. Befor & after it was a Prison.

If you could give some historical facts about the place it would be excellent.

Behind every good ghosthunter, is an even better Historian.

Any info would be great.

Best wishes

Eddie
