Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hi Sans

I have sent an Email to the hall. Asking of the name of the lady. Her Title & of her history. I did not mention anything about her ghost. More chance of getting a reply if asking about the history of the Lady.

I have recieved an Email saying that no one will be in the office till the 14th of this month. So now we have to sit patently & wait for a reply.

I have looked on the net & it seems as if my friend made a mistake about the age of the Diana hauntings.

It seems as if it is Lady Diana Spencer & her two dogs that is haunting Allsaints church, where ever that is.

Do I believe this...................NO.......... Giggle

I have looked on the net & can find no history at the hall of the 15.00s lady who was murdered, comited suicide

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hi Eddie,

Thank you for your help in trying to find out a bit more about this lady.  When I talked with the man at the hall he did not appear to know much about her background, but her picture is in the room, all but one next to the fireplace with the large silver mirror.

All the staff I spoke with did not hide the fact that they do have a haunted room upstairs in the north wing.  There are many questions remaining unanswered!

There are many AllSaints churches around.  Will sit patiently and see if you get a reply :)

Thanks

Sans

Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hi Sans

I have had a reply from the Hall but the person on the desk is new to the Hall, so she is passing this on to another person to get more info.

She said that the lady's name was Miranda.

I find it strange that on the net there is no history of her life & death.

So again, we shall have to wait a little longer.

Best wishes

Eddie

Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for that :)

The story is strange when you consider that this Spanish, Roman Catholic frequented the hall and that the hall also have a picture of her, they know her first name, how is it that they do not have a surname for her?   Or is this a deliberate act to cover up the events that led to her death?

Being a non-practising r/catholic myself - I am accustomed to the ways in which for them they may have perceived her death as shameful (depending on the nature of her death) something that may have brought their religion into disrepute and decided to cover it up?

Again, what happened to her remains...if she committed suicide she could not be buried on consecrated grounds.  I wonder if her body was returned to spain?

Look forward to your next post.

Thanks

Sans

Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hello

I read with interest your account of your experiences at Oxbrough Hall.

I know this location very well and I am aware of the "alledged" haunting in the North Room.

Traditionally the haunting is associated in; The Boudour, The Marian Hangings Room, The North Room and in the private corridor from these locations  to what is know as the Captains Room (Staff Room).

Some time ago a former Baronet encounted a ghost on a stair case which he descibed as "the lady in black" and confimed the identity of the spirit to the portrait which hangs in the North Room on the left hand side of the fire place known as the "Countess Miranda" whose identity is appartently unknown?????  A clue exists in one corner of the painting the Heraldic Crest of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany.

Eleonora Di Toledo (1st wife of Cosimo I "The Great" De'Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany- 1522 to Dec 17th 1562).

Madeglia Di Camilla Martelli (2nd wife and former mistress of Cosimo I "The Great"- married 1570 and died 1574).

Happy hunting!!!!!!!!

Re: OXBURGH HALL

Hi N,

Thank you so much for the information you provided.

Have you ever witnessed or experienced anything while at the hall?

This forum at times acts like a detective agency :)  A GREAT BUNCH OF PEOPLE!

Thanks

Sans
