Now that badgers are on the increase ( very rapidly) in Norfolk I wondered how many NORFOLK people on the forum recall seeing badgers or badger setts in NORFOLK before the 1990s.Despite being country born and bred I had not seen a badger sett nor a badger as roadkill in the county until the late 1990s. My parents, also Norfolk country people had seen otters, foxes and all manner of shy beasts but neither were aware of badgers being present in their patch of Norfolk until recently.I don't really see how they could have missed being aware of badgers being around! I know that cold and dry affects badgers adversely and that they were traditionally confined to more warm and damp westerly parts of the UK but has their migration to the Eastern Counties been a gradual process since the 1960s and a consequence of global warming or are we seeing badgers here that are descended from some that have been removed from the West Country to prevent their gassing and released ?
