EDP today 1st April.  Note Date!!

If the EDP is to believed Emily Dennis reports yet another reorganisation of Norfolk Police.  The three existing areas are to be replaced by one unit covering the whole county.

That unit will be divided into seven policing districts 'roughly  geographically similar to Distrcit Council Boundaries', each under the command of a Superintendet.  i.e back to the old Police Divisions.

Chief Superintendent Cherington said inter alia, that people would say that this is a retrun to old methods of policing.  This reader will not until the 'old' standards are returned, i.e a dedictaed Policeman in each Village who is available, and who is known to the inhabitants. (And en passant who knows all of his 'parishioners')   Plus vast decrease is the 68% detected failure rate. The rest of the report is so full of holes that it would take a page or two to respond.

And this is a Force who is trying to justify another huge increase in funding against ever decreasing results.

Oh go one then, tell me this is the April Fool story and I have been suckered once again.  Not a new experience!!
