What's with all the football?
Nah, I don't mind really, but there are other sports in Norfolk you know.
For example, the World Assosiation(sp?) of Wrestling, whose next academy show in Cossesty(sp?) is on 6th April, their next show after that (that I know of) is on 27th April at the Marina Centre in Great Yarmouth.
Does anyone else know of any other sports that don't get mentioned on, or have very few mentions on here?

Wrestling....is that not the same as football. Both sports have two people spending a lot of time on the floor..........

Very good point. However, I haven't seen any footballers jumping off the goalposts when a member of the opposition is on the ground...yet

Hi DarkPlaygirl
I have tried to bring all sports as a thread. I thought that it would make things alot easyer to look back on one thread, instead of looking all over the forum for an answer.
However sadly. There does not seem to be many postings here. I was a bit suprised about that.
Did you get your name from the Nightwish album Dark Passion Play...............No I guess not......Giggle........Oh well I love the band Nightwish.
I'm off now. Back to the EDP Spooky Norfolk Website. Ghosty Forum
Speak soon byeeeeee.
Best wishes
Eddie

LOL.........I loved that answer Robert. Nice one.
Oh where would Norman Hunter be in this day & age of football.......TUT....On the bench I guess. After being sent off every game he played. Giggle.
I think that todays football is not worth watching. So Mamby Pamby.............Compeared to yester years. A bad foul in todays football, would have been a sunday picknic in the 50s 60s & 70s.......... Oh Its True, Its True, Its Darn True.......I slightly changed that last part DarkPlaygirl. I didnt think that Curts saying would get past our wonderful Mods.
I used to love the WWF-WWE wrestling. But stoped watching it, after SKY in all their wisdom made every main event, pay per view. I pay too much for satalite TV as it is.
Just a thought. I wonder if every main event wrestling bout is now on You Tube. Just after the event. That would get me back into wrestling, if it was.
As it is. I will settle for the good old F1 racing.
Best wishes
Eddie

Hi Eddie,
I agree, I wish there were more people posting on here too.
As for my name, no it's not from the Nightwish Dark Passion Play album.
My buddy Sam Knee is the manager for a tag team known as The Devils Playboys, so its sort of from them.
Might see you on the other forums too
laters,

I feel sport of today, is not geared to days of the past, in so much as watching a sports persons skill
F1 Racing is run by computers, Football is lacking is skilled dribbling and good ball control, instead decking a player to get the ball is the order of the day, or shirt pulling and countless other fouls......The skill of deceiving the ref mainly for a penalty seems the skill in many of todays games. And the must win at all cost in the top flight teams of the prem.with a few yellow cards and a red one along the way if required during a match.
Team sports just seem bias in highlighting superstars to create interest in crowd pulling and increased profits.
Individual sports Golf, Snooker and Darts for example, the skill is there for all to see and appreciate without question and no excuses to blame someone else for failure.
The sport of football is no longer there, 30 years ago football rode supreme in skill and entertainment, then you hoped your team would win and teams were more equal, now top flight teams are expected to win like a production line of acheivements. Now victories are not earned in the spirit of the game, but victory is now bought with countless millions ploughed into a team.
The top 10 in the prem now control the football league, and the likes of Norwich have next to zero chance of equaling them in status or financial impact, and as the present system stands.....never will.
Football is no longer a sport but a financial motivated money factory for top prem teams...

Hi all
I rarely look in the sports forum, because as you point out it's dominated by football.
In the spirit of the thread topic, I would like to point out that there is a struggling Norfolk volleyball league. It mostly struggles due to a lack of new players joining the various teams. Any new players would be welcome, as well as any retired players that have moved to the area and are unaware of the league. Contact details are on the web site.
As well as mens & mixed leagues, there is a Norwich Womens team, who have just been promoted to National Div 2. Well done to them and good luck for the next season.
John

Normally September to April for the indoor game, with beach/grass/fun tournaments through the summer months.
