A pal who is in the trade can remember a place called Poldens which was a hairdresser academy and supplier but she thought it was near where MFI is now.
Hi,
Thank you for that information but, the one I need the address of was on Muspole Street, Norwich.
Regards,
Mo
If this is helpful to your enquiry, there is the National Training Federation in Seymour House, Muspole Street, Norwich, NR3 1DJ, telephone 01603 623262, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know if they would be able to assist.
It occurred to me that they might occupy the same building as previously occupied by the Spanish gentleman to whom you referred, and the possible a 'training' connection is a thought. Either way, it might be worth a telephone call to them, other businesses in the vicinity or long standing hairdressers who might remember the name.
I am surprised that the City & Guilds are only prepared to search through their records in exchange for your supplying the name of the training academy; heaven knows what others in the same situation are supposed to do.
I thank you very much for your reply and the information which I will follow up this next week, it could be another angle to look at. I did contact the Lion House,Muspole Street, Norwich which I found to be perhaps in the same building but, they only rent the building and have asked their landlord for any assistance.
The City & Guilds charge £34.00 for a copy certificate but, only with relevant information i.e. name of establishment etc. and the course number which, if I had, I wouldn't be needing a copy certificate as that information is only on the certificate! I'm trying to help someone obtain this certificate as she needs it for a job application and she doesn't have internet access. This person no longer lives in Norfolk and is only able to give me thie information from memory.
I'm most grateful for your advice and I will certainly let you know if I'm successful.
Kindest regards,
You're welcome, Mo. Any luck? As another suggestion, try Norwich Record Office; they have a website with a business records section...

... but I personally think it would be better to visit or 'phone them. Regards, BB.
Hi BB,
Sorry for the delayed reply but, I have had no luck with this one. I left it for a while to see if I received any response but, unfortunately none. To complicate matters I'm now in Yorkshire and so is the person I'm trying to help in tracking down this City & Guilds certificate so a visit is not practical.
I'll take your advice and try the Norwich Record Office. It's really kind of you to go to so much trouble for me and I am truly grateful, I just wish City & Guilds were as helpful. They are quite happy to take the £34.00 even if they cannot supply a copy certificate.
