How to be a good catholic if you're that way inclined
As Melissa’s baptism is fast approaching we have to attend a course at the local church on how to be a good catholic! We have to go every evening this week for about an hour and listen to a married couple talk about Jesus and the 10 commandments so as you can imagine it’s an hour of complete boredom for me so I generally think of something else and hope no one asks me a question. However if they do I can always say I didn't understand. We have to take Melissa with us as there’s no one we can ask to look after her and she’s so far been very good indeed despite the warm room we find ourselves in. The first evening was a ‘meet and greet’ session and I thought things were going to get quite heated when one man was questioning the rights and wrongs of one of the ten commandments (don’t ask me which one as I wasn’t listening until it started to get heated) but the discussion soon settled down. At the end of the session Felice explained to the married couple who host the course that I wasn’t catholic so to excuse me if I don’t make the sign of the cross along with everyone else. “No that’s okay,” Said the round faced lady host, “And there’s no reason why one day your wife can’t convert.” At that point I pretended I didn’t hear her and looked at Melissa instead. Anyway I figure that as long as I say “Si” in the right places no one will judge me too much! Mind you if I’ve had the right impression about the other couples on the course, I don’t think any of them actually attend church very frequently.
