How much good food do you just "pour" down the plug
hole?
How many "bath tubs" of uneaten fruit, vegetables, meat,
fish, bread and ready meals do you think end up in your bin?
You might be surprised…
Here in Norfolk, we throw away enough food every year to fill up over
1 million baths.
Are
you dreaming of a green wedding?
Tying the knot is a big deal, with couples splashing out on piles of
new clothes, mounds of food and reams of paper.
But getting married doesn't have to cost the earth - or contribute
to topping up landfill. By planning a "greener" event, your
big day could be as environmentally friendly as it is fun.
Youngsters can now find out about recycling by using a scaled down version
of the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). The Mini MRF is the latest
activity to be offered by Norfolk County Council's School Waste Action
Club and is designed to replicate how kerbside collected household rubbish
in Norfolk is sorted for recycling.
Jo Williams, from Norfolk, is a keen recycler. We ask her why she believes
the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) are so important.
Norfolk residents are being asked to tell county council bosses what
to consider when they look at ways to treat waste that cannot be reused
or recycled in the future. Click
