Trash for cash
Turn trash into cash - and raise funds for your non-profit making
group.
Norfolk County Council will currently pay £43.59 of recycling
credits for each tonne of household waste that is collected by your
organisation.
The council has to dispose of thousands of tonnes of household rubbish
every month.
If you collect and recycle some of it, the amount it needs to get
rid of is reduced - and so are the council's costs.
Recycling
credits can be paid to non-profit making groups such as charities,
voluntary organisations, parish councils and churches etc.
Any type of recyclable household materials can be collected - such
as newspapers and magazines, glass, cans and other metals and textiles.
Recycling credits will not be paid for waste from commercial sources,
for example, cafés, clubs, shops or other places of business.
Credits will also not be paid for items that are collected for
resale such as secondhand books, clothing and returnable bottles.
However, charity shops that collect items for resale may be able
to claim credits for unsold items which are sent
for recycling.
To set up a scheme, you need to arrange to collect and store the
materials yourself or for a merchant/recycler to provide and service
a recycling bank.
The bank can be on land belonging to your organisation or a consenting
landowner. All materials have to be passed to a merchant/recycler
registered with Norfolk County Council.
You will also need to register your scheme with Norfolk County
Council.
Please note, your scheme may not be accepted if it conflicts with
another registered recycling scheme or a district council recycling
programme.
The recycling credits are payable in addition to any payment you
may receive for the materials from your merchant/recycler.
So get collecting and make even more money for your group or charity!
