She may want you in top hat and tails, your mum may want
you to wear a lounge suit and you’d be far happier
in jeans and a T-shirt.
The girls do tend to call the shots when it comes to the
style of a wedding as if the bride wants the whole, big,
white wedding with
smart cars, trillions of bridesmaids and all the important
men dressed the same, then that’s what tends to happen.
Likewise, if she wants a very relaxed affair the resulting
day is usually informal and easy-going with everyone wearing
exactly what they like.
But it is the groom’s day too and he needs to say
from the outset if he is unhappy with the ideas being put
forward.
Most grooms, and brides, will agree that actually it doesn’t
matter what the groom wears as long as it fits properly.
So if you’re hiring a suit, find one which fits perfectly.
It may be worth buying a suit as even if it is only worn
another five times usually it is cheaper than hiring an
outfit for five occasions.
Dinner jackets can be worn for weddings after 5pm without
looking out of place; otherwise it is usually a lounge suit,
a contemporary suit or trousers and a jacket that complements
them.
Dark greys, black and dark blues look sleek, particularly
with pale coloured shirts and a solid colour, silk tie.
Have a browse through bridal magazines for ideas and check
out several of Norfolk’s menswear shops before going
ahead and hiring or buying.
It’s worth having a manicure and how about a facial
and decent wet shave for the wedding day too? After all,
the groom, best man and father of the bride will be on show
as much as the bride and bridesmaids.
